I have dozens of USB-C cables, floating around the house, and in my backpack. This little adapter allows me to charge my Garmin watch with any cable floating around. I leave one in my car and one of my bag. If my watch is low, it gets charged! I don’t have to hunt around for the Garmin cable. Love it!

My Garmin watch came with a dedicated charge cable. But I travel months at a time by bicycle, and the fewer the better the cables I need to pack and keep up with while on the road. These adapters eliminate that one-too-many cable, allowing the same USB-C cable that charges everything else on the bike to also charge my watch.
The watch shown in the accompanying photo is a Garmin Instinct 2X, which can go up to 40 days between charges, and indefinitely if exposed to enough sunlight. But I still have to be prepared to recharge it eventually, especially in winter when sunlight is precious.
I had three concerns when testing these adapters. (1) Would they allow more charge than the watch could accept? In other words, were they smart enough to protect my watch? (2) Would they transmit data for updating the watch, as well as current? (3) Would they allow the watch to charge as quickly as does the dedicated OEM cable?
The answers: (1) The watch appears to be as happy when charged via these adapters as with the OEM charge cable. (2) Data flows, as well as current. Updates work with these adapters. (3) The watch does indeed charge as quickly via these adapters. I know, because Iâve logged charge times for the watch since day-one.
Another benefit: I can now dictate the length of the charge cable, making charging the watch at home more convenient.

Now that USB C is much more of the charging standard, I’ve found myself slowly switching everything over to USB C cables. However, my standard Garmin ForeRunner still requires a USB-A type port. This adapter is great in so many ways!
First, you no longer have to carry another full cable, especially if you travel. You can just attach it to any USB C cable that you have and hook it up to your watch. Second, the right angle design is really great. Normally, when you connect the cable, the watch has to sit on its side for the cable to stay attached. With this adapter, you can actually lay the watch flat on any surface since the adapter allows the cable to come in from the side. Third, the connection is quite secure — in fact, it’s probably the most secure connection that I’ve ever had with the watch so it’s easy to tell that the adapter is on right. The one consideration is that you may need to be a bit more careful when disconnecting. Finally, there’s a loop so that you can easily connect a small cable or attach it to a keyring so that it doesn’t get lost in your bag.
Extremely convenient, super portable, and does its job charging! What more can you ask for?

Update: I just switched my watch from Garmin Vivoactive 3 to Vivoactive 5. While the shape is compatible for both, it doesn’t charge my watch ð I tried a few different sources of power with no luck. I used a charging cable that came with the new watch on the same power sources and work.
Two reasons I decided on this product: 1) my older Garmin watch battery drains unpredictability (100% to 50% in first 30 min ð) and 2) I am planning a trip and didn’t want to carry every charging cable.
2 of these came in a pack, so I’ll keep one in the car where I keep a USB-C cable for my phone. The other one will be with travel power bank.
I just combined my USB-C and this to charge my Garmin watch. I don’t know how accurate it is because I didn’t time it, but this combo charges faster than Garmin-only cables I have (but they aren’t genuine kinds).
One star is taken because of the design. It’s such a small product that I should be able to keep it together with a cable. The loop on this product doesn’t stretch to go around the USB-C head. I will need to zip-tie it or something.
